Gourmet Vanilla Beans from Indonesia a Bourbon Style from The Spice Islands
Gourmet Vanilla Planifolia Pods are sweet, oily, and incredibly pungent. Indonesian Vanilla Beans are known for their unique smokiness and woody flavor. Indonesia is highly regarded for the high quality of vanilla produced there and is the second largest vanilla bean producer in the world, next to Madagascar. The unique flavor and aroma profile of this particular style of vanilla planifolia pods is derived from the curing process utilized in Indonesia. The amount of sun the vanilla receives in drying results in a bean that is slightly less pliable than the Madagascar counterpart but holds up remarkably well in heated applications, extract, ice creams, and other sweet treats. The smoky flavor pairs beautifully with chocolate and barbecue sauces (try this one) and it is perfect for richer desserts or recipes that call for caramel or star anise, giving the exotic flavor of these vanilla beans a chance to really shine!

These ain't your Costco Vanilla Beans!
I bought a pound of beans and started 16 jars of extract for 2025. 2 Mex. Plan., 3 Mad. Pomp., 2 Comoros Plan., 3 Long Mad. Plan., 6 Ecuador Plan. The fragrance, the oiliness, the suppleness Oh My Goodness. They were all very plump, except for the Ecuador (2025 not 2026) which were a touch dryer with some showing vanillin crystals. But, there were a lot of beans, 38 in the 4 OZ. The Madagascar Pompona blew my socks off as soon as I opened the package! they are as thick as my little finger... packed with more than 2 TbSp of caviar each. These beans screamed "Whipped Cream" at me... but alas, I had to drown them in vodka and rum. Joseph A said they are expensive! BUNK, I don't think so, pardner! Sorry, don't mean to raise my voice... But, I have been making extracts for about 6 years and these are superior beans, the best I have ever used. I will gladly pay ten bucks and change for an ounce for SloFoodGroup.com Grade A Vanilla Beans, ahem, with the 15% discount and free shipping by FedEx. I have sourced beans from 12 different packagers and 10 different countries (I had to check). It's simple, if you are going to go gourmet, these beans are the bomb. To get this quality of a gourmet bean, big, plump, oily, supple, aromatic for less than $11 an ounce... Are you kidding me!
Good smell
My first time ordering Indonesian vanilla. These were a little thing and dry, not sure if that’s typical for Indonesian beans. Smell was really great and earthy though. Used in ice cream with a blend of vanillas, very tasty.
